The department prides itself on giving the residents of Grasonville and surrounding communities the very best service possible. HAZMAT BOX AT CHESAPEAKE COLLEGE

At 11:49 hours Hazmat 3-9 was dispatched for a Chlorine Leak in the pool building at the Chesapeake College.  Engine 25 responded on the run with 4 Volunteers.  Chief 4 arrived on scene and confirmed that a 175 Gallon Chlorine tank was leaking in the pool building.  Command requested Hazmat 23 and Special Unit 23 from Anne Arundel County and Engine 38 and Special Unit 38 from Annapolis City for their Hazmat Teams.  Engine 25 established the Decon area for the Entry teams and was supplied by Talbot Tanker 86.  Operations were extended do to the severity of the leak.  Engine 25 cleared the scene at 16:53 hours.  Chief 4 - Powell had the Command.  Two additional crews staffed the Firehouse during this call.

GARAGE FIRE - BOX 1-2 - 216 JOHNNY LANE

At 08:33 hours our units were alerted to assist Station 1 - Kent Island with a Garage fire at 216 Johnny Lane.  Engine 25, Truck 2, Tanker 2, and Rescue 2 responded on the run with 18 Volunteers.  Chief 1 arrived on location and confirmed a working garage fire attached to a 2 story single family dwelling.  Our crews assisted with opening up and forced entry into the residence to check for extension.  Our units cleared the scene at 09:57 hours.  Chief 1 - Thomas had the Command.  Thanks to Tower Ladder 5 for covering our First Due while our units worked on the Fire Ground.


 
   
   
TECHNICAL RESCUE AT 126 JACKSON CREEK LANE

At 16:02 hours the Station was alerted for a Pedestrian struck at 126 Jackson Creek Lane. Rescue 2 and Engine 22 responded on the call with 10 Volunteers. As units went responding, Queen Anne advised units of a victim being stuck under a vehicle. Rescue 2 arrived on scene finding one subject under a stake body truck with their arm stuck in a PTO. At this point Truck 2 responded with 5 additional Volunteers and Command requested Aviation and The Go-Team. Crews utilized the air bag system, Rescue Jacks, and Air tools from Rescue 2 to start the extrication process. Rescue 3 and Rescue 1 were both responding at this time as well. With the truck stabilized crew's went to work freeing the victim's arm from the PTO shaft. The patient was extricated at 16:25 hours and immediately transferred to a awaiting EMS unit. Due to the weather conditions the patient was transported by land to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Asst. Chief Matt Coursey was the Incident Commander. Good job to everyone involved in this call.


 
HOUSE FIRE AT 400 WILLOW POINT LANE

At 20:55 hours the station was alerted for a House Fire at 400 Willow Point Lane in the 1-14 Box.  Engine 22, Truck 2, Tanker 2, and Rescue 2 responded on the Bow with 23 Volunteers.  Officer 103 arrived on scene with smoke showing from a 2 story single family.  Tanker 2 arrived and pulled both bumper lines off the front with Engine 22 laying a supply line up the driveway.  Crews found a hot tub on fire in a rear sun room of the residence.  The fire was knocked down quickly and crews worked for about 10 minutes to remove smoke from the house.  Our units cleared the scene at 22:41 hours.

RESCUE BOX 2-16 - OVERTURNED VEHICLE ON PROSPECT BAY ROAD

At 11:24 hours Rescue Box 2-16 was dispatched for a MVC with Rollover on Prospect Bay Road in the area of the Club House.  Rescue 2, Engine 22, and Truck 2 responded on the run with 14 Volunteers.  Rescue 2 arrived at the corrected location on Prospect Bay Road to find one van overturned with no entrapment.  Command (Asst. Chief McCombs) scaled back the incident to Station 2 units and the first ems unit.  The single occupant was checked out by PM 300 and our units cleared at 11:50 hours. 


 
   
   
223 QUEEN ANNE CLUB DRIVE - FATAL 2 ALARM HOUSE FIRE

At 12:04 hours Box 9-6 was dispatched for a Working House fire at 223 Queen Anne Club Drive in the Queen Anne Colony Community. Engine 22, Truck 2 and Tanker 2 responded on the 1st alarm and Engine 25 on the 2nd alarm with 14 Volunteers. Engine 91 arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire. Engine Tanker 1 arrived a short time later and Captain Finck established Command. Upon arrival of our units the crew of Engine 22 was directed to conduct a primary search of the first floor and Truck 2 to conduct a search of the second floor. Both units encountered heavy fire conditions and attempted their assignments but were pulled back do to the deteriorating conditions of the house. The master streams from Truck 2 and Tower 1 were placed into service to knock down the bulk of the fire. A Tanker Task force and 2 Alarm was requested by Command do to the heavy fire conditions. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down crews re-entered the house to extinguish the remaining fire and continue search operations. Crews located one victim in the second floor and was a confirmed Priority 4. Crews stood by to assist units from the Maryland State Fire Marshall's Officer, MSP Centreville Barrack, and the MSP Crime Lab. Our last unit cleared the scene at 19:08 hours.  


 
   
   
SERIOUS MVC ON MAIN STREET AT SAWMILL LANE

At 22:27 hours the Station was alerted for Rescue Box 2-10 for the Serious MVC on Main Street at Sawmill Lane.  Rescue 2 and Both Engines responded on the call with 12 Volunteers.  Rescue 2 arrived on scene with one vehicle off the road and head on into a tree.  The single passenger was pulled from the vehicle prior to our arrival by a bystander that thought the vehicle was on fire.  EMS units evaluated the patient and requested aviation do to the extent of injuries.  EMS units relocated to the Queen Anne Emergency Room to utilize there Helipad for MSP Trooper 6.  Units cleared the scene at 23:00.  Captain Jones had the Main Street Command.


 
   
   
5511 MAIN STREET - FIRST DUE CHIMNEY FIRE WITH EXTENSION

At 00:26 hours the station was alerted for the First Due Chimney fire at 5511 Main Street. Engines 25, 22, Truck 2, Rescue 2, and Tanker 2 responded on the call with 21 Volunteers. Engine 25 arrived on scene with a working chimney fire with extension into the walls and roof area. The crew from Engine 25 pulled one rear attack line and went to work extinguishing all hidden fire while the Truck company opened up the walls and roof area. Engine 22 secured Engine 25 supply at the hydrant across the street. Units worked for about half an hour opening up and locating all fire and hot spots. Our units were assisted by Queenstown, Kent Island, and Centreville VFD's. Units cleared the scene at 01:28. Captain Sheahan had the Main Street Command.
